Hoewel de Europese integratie op tal van terreinen reeds in een vergevorderd stadium verkeert, is de Europese samenwerking op het terrein van het landschapsonderzoek en landschapsbeleid veel minder ver voortgeschreden. Welke oorzaken zijn hiervoor aan te wijzen? Welke resultaten zijn in de afgelopen decennia wel bereikt? En welke uitdagingen bestaan de komende jaren in het onderzoek, beleid en hoger onderwijs ten aanzien van de cultuurlandschappen van Europa?

European cultural landscapes: towards a new agenda for research, policy and education

In spite of the fact that European integration has reached an advanced stage in many fields the international cooperation in the fields of landscape research and landscape policy is clearly lagging behind. This paper discusses possible causes of this arrear and unfolds several ideas for improving this situation in successively the fields of European network building, European landscape research, European landscape policy and associated fields of European higher education.
