Landbouwenclave Hoog Buurlo.

Door de toenemende aandacht voor cultuurhistorie en landschap kruipt ook Hoog Buurlo uit haar schulp. Dit voor velen onbekende gehucht zal de komende jaren in de schijnwerpers staan wanneer er bewust gekozen wordt voor het stilzetten van de tijd. De hernieuwde aandacht voor Hoog Buurlo komt voort uit de toekomstplannen van Staatsbosbeheer met het gebied. Voorafgaand aan deze plannen is een uitgebreid historisch-geografisch onderzoek uitgevoerd. Hiermee is de basis gelegd voor verdere planvorming in het gebied. De nieuwe ontwikkelingen richten zich in hoofdzaak op het behouden van de cultuurhistorische elementen in Hoog Buurlo. Gekozen is voor het terugbrengen van de situatie van omstreeks het jaar 1900. Een dergelijk besluit om de tijd stil te zetten gaat in feite tegen de natuur en cultuur in, maar is voor een gebied als Hoog Buurlo wel te onderbouwen.

Agrarian enclave Hoog Buurlo

Hoog Buurlo is situated in the middle of the Veluwe, to the west of Apeldoorn. This hamlet, surrounded by a ring-shaped avenue of beeches, is an agrarian enclave in the woods. The landscape has not changed much since the Middle Ages. There still is a flock of sheep, there are fields, meadows, oak coppice, wildwallen (hedgebanks as protection against roaming animals), schapendriften (sheep droving routes), two former farms and two sheepfolds. The renewed interest in Hoog Buurlo is a result of the increasing interest in landscape and its history. The new developments are focused on preserving the historical elements of the landscape. The aim is to preserve Hoog Buurlo as it was around 1900. The most important reason to take this decision is the culture of the heathland. Hoog Buurlo represents this centuries-old culture.
